Scholar Travel Grants to Attend 2014 APIASF Higher Education Summit

APIASF is excited to offer a select number of travel grants to Scholars wishing to attend our Higher Education Summit taking place on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 in Washington, D.C. These travel grants are made possible through the generous support of Southwest Airlines, a proud sponsor of APIASF and the official airline of the APIASF Higher Education Summit.

Organized into a series of presentations, panels, and breakout sessions, the 2014 APIASF Higher Education Summit will focus on the theme of Creating Meaningful Change for APIA Students by highlighting how the acceleration of student success, mobilization of communities and resources, and advancement of institutional capacity contribute to broad scale meaningful change for Asian and Pacific Islander American (APIA) students. During the event, participants will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of sessions focused on best practices to accelerate student success, mobilize communities and strengthen institutional capacity. The forum will conclude with a special reception hosted by APIASF and will be attended by key leaders in the education, policy, non-profit, private and public sectors. This event is by invitation only.


Applicants must be current or past recipients of the APIASF General scholarship award, APIASF AANAPISI scholarship award, or GMS/APIASF scholarship award. Current recipients must be in good standing with their respective scholarship program. Verification of eligibility will be conducted prior to the awarding of the travel grants.

Scope of Grant
The travel grants will cover the cost of airfare/travel, lodging and meals for days associated with the event, and ground transportation in Washington, D.C. Selected recipients of the travel grant must attend all required activities affiliated with the Summit AND submit a reflection piece to APIASF within one week of the event. Selected recipients are expected to make their own ground travel arrangements to the nearest Southwest Airline airport hub. Selected recipients should expect to be available to travel from Monday, June 16, 2014 through Wednesday, June 18, 2014.

Application Process
Eligible Scholars interested in applying for a travel grant must complete the following application requirements prior to the deadline of Friday, March 7, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. PST. A complete application includes:
