2008 APIASF Gala Slideshow

The Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF) hosted its third annual Today's Minds, Tomorrow's Future® Gala in the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton New York on October 30th, 2008 in New York City.

The event was a tremendous success, gathering more than 500 individuals together and bringing in more than $850,000 for APIASF. Honorees included J. Alexander M. (Sandy) Douglas, Jr., President of Coca-Cola North America; Bill Imada, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IW Group, Inc.; and Don Thompson, President of McDonald's USA, who were recognized for their commitment to the field of education as well as their dedicated support of APIASF. Former CNN anchor and APIASF Advisory Council member Sachi Koto was the evening's Mistress of Ceremonies. American Idol Season Six contestant Sanjaya Malakar performed original music. Current and past APIASF scholars were in attendance and shared with the audience their testimonials and words of thanks for all of APIASF's supporters. The evening's presenting sponsors were McDonald's USA and the Asian McDonald's Operators Association. Gala co-chairs included Abercrombie & Fitch, AT&T, ING, Nationwide, USA Funds, Coca-Cola North America, FedEx Corporation, IBM, Macy's, Inc. and the United States Navy Diversity Directorate. A silent auction and reception were also part of the evening's festivities.
