APIASF Jump Start College Tour in Atlanta, Georgia

On Saturday, September 14, 2013, APIASF in collaboration with OCA provided a free leadership training, financial literacy and professional development informational event for parents and students. In addition to a Wells Fargo Hands on Banking Program, the event consisted of three main parts.

APIA Identity 2.0

Understanding who you are and what you mean to others as an Asian and Pacific Islander American (APIA) can help students and young professionals build the strategies for future success. This session helped participants learn how to amplify their personal brand, strengthen communication skills and appreciate persistence.

Furure-Now: Anticipating Trends to Accelerate Your Future Career

During this session, a panel of experts from a broad range of backgrounds shared their insights on the importance of career trends and how to anticipate them. Students learned how to incorporate this skill into their college and career planning. In addition, the panel shared best practices gained through their experience in their respective fields.

Exploring Your Secret Weapon: EQ and CQ

This session provided participants with the five most important success factors that every APIA should know to succeed in school, at work and in life. The discussion provided an overview on Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and Cultural Intelligence (CQ) and how students can leverage these skills in negotiation, motivation and to build professional networks.
