The Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF) held a special reception hosted at the newly opened Newport Beach Campus at Coastline Community College on Friday, February 8 to welcome newly awarded scholarship recipients. Thanks to the generous support of the Walmart Foundation, APIASF was able to expand its Community College Scholarship Program from its three original institutional partners to award five two-year scholarships to students attending Coastline Community College.
The reception recognized the scholarship recipients for their academic commitment and helped connect them with resources at APIASF and on the Coastline campus. Dr. Lori Adrian, President of Coastline Community College, and Jim Moreno, Trustee of the Coast Community College District provided remarks to the students.
Coastline Community College is one of only 21 schools to receive federal funding from the U.S. Department of Education through the Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI) program. Each AANAPISI must certify at least a 10 percent enrollment of Asian American and Pacific Islander students with at least 50 percent of their degree-seeking students receiving Federal financial assistance.
